A Fallen Hero

“I must have failed,” thought Freydís, the young Viking warrior, her final memory the demon’s blade piercing her torso. Despite her youth, she discerned her departure from the physical realm. As she mourned, three Valkyries approached, one holding her sword. “Please follow us; Valhalla awaits,” they beckoned. Confused, she questioned her worth. The middle Valkyrie presented a star chart, affirming her sacrifice. “The stars do not lie, for your sacrifice in battling the Great Demon, you have earned your place here. Your blade weakened the demon, and your comrades defeated the beast.” Relieved, she accepted her sword and entered the candle-lit halls, guided by the Valkyrie.
